New Hangar at Beja Airport

26 September, 2016

Mesa plans to build its first aircraft hangar at Beja Airport, in Alentejo, after having extended its comprehensive line maintenance services to this location in the first semester of the year.

The new hangar is expected to accommodate a widebody aircraft, such as an Airbus A340-500, plus two or four narrowbody aircraft (depending on types), and is planned to be used during the performance of c-checks (heavy checks).

“Beja Airport is a privileged location to perform this type of maintenance task: c-checks are very extensive and require that all individual systems and components are checked for serviceability and function. This implies that the aircraft has to stay removed from the revenue schedule for a few days. That kind of permanence is more manageable in Beja rather than at busier airports”, says Paulo Mirpuri, President of Mesa.

The project is still under evolution for licensing and construction is expected to start between the second and the third quarter of 2017.

Mesa is an aircraft line maintenance provider based in Portugal, EASA Part 145 Maintenance Organization, approved under Portuguese Authorities Certificate PT.145.020. The Company has several Maintenance Stations around the world, all aimed to temporarily support the Customer’s need for Line Maintenance Services at a specific place.
